Sherry is the nickname of Sidhu, and his fellow cricketers, as well as other people close to him, call him Sherry. However, his nickname was kept Sherry not because he liked to drink Sherry, instead this name is a short anglicized form for the term ‘Sher-e-Punjab’, meaning ‘Lion of Punjab’.

Amongst all the cars that he owns, Toyota Fortuner is his absolute favorite. Wherever he goes, he prefers to travel in this huge and luxurious car. Navjot Sidhu’s wife’s name is Navjot Sidhu as well. It is hardly seen that the wife and the husband share the exact same name, however, this is one of the facts about Sidhu which makes him more unique.

In 1988, Sidhu was accused of murdering a person after getting into a row with him. The Punjab Police arrested him and he had to spend some days in custody. However, later in the judicial proceedings, the charges were denied and he was released.

Sidhu’s father, Late Sardar Bhagwat Singh, had an interest in cricket and wanted to become a cricketer but the circumstance wasn’t in his favor. However, he later motivated his son to pursue this path, to fulfill his dream of becoming a cricketer and playing for India.

Back in the days, Sidhu got admitted in the prestigious St. Stephen’s College of the University of Delhi, but his term there was quite short. Unfortunately, he became a victim of the despicable act of ragging, and instead of succumbing, he manhandled a senior. Due to his aggressive act, he had to face disciplinary action and was rusticated from the college.
